October 7, 2008

Today was so much fun. We ate breakfast at the house and left around 9:30 to drive to Yellowstone. Along the way we saw a crowd gathering and of course stopped to see what was going on - a moose in the swamp! Got some good pics of him.

It took about two hours to get into Yellowstone and it was a little disappointing for both of us - mostly mountains and hills in the parts we were in - very few flatlands for animals to gather in. We got to see Old Faithful (not nearly as exciting as its made out to be lol) and again, took many pictures of that. If I can figure out how to put pics in my posts, I'll add some in.

We wandered around the gift shops at the Old Faithful park and finally found some fairly cheap firewood to use in our fireplace tonight. It's a really pretty fireplace and we want to make use of it while we're here.

On the way home, we stopped wherever we saw the cars gathered and were able to see and get great pictures of a HUGE grizzly bear, several elk, antelope, and another large moose. It was so amazing to see them in their own habitat, not one the zoo makes up for them. It's really different to see them in their own life here.

So now it's off to dinner and then back home - more updates tomorrow!

A few things we learned today:
1) Ppl in this town are not exceptionally friendly but the few that are, are very nice.
2) It's impossible to buy firewood for less than thirty bucks - ridiculous.
3) Do not "bugle" at the moose....they will come toward you very quickly to see what you're doing. lol
