September 30, 2008

It hit me last night that we are getting married in THREE DAYS!!! Up until then, it just felt like I was living in someone else's dream and it wasn't really happening to me, but it hit me like a train last night and I'm sOOOOO EXCITED!! Last minute things are coming together and I'm ready. So ready.

September 29, 2008

So I'm writing again to say I'm in a much better mood.....I can't let the little things get me down and upset. We're way too close to the finish line to let unimportant things bother me. I simmer down when I have time to cool off, lol.

This day has gone by really quickly; I'm happy about that. I get to go in an hour or so, hopefully. Just found out that I have to stay late on Wednesday, til 7 or so, but it's okay. Jay is working overtime on Wednesday night so it really doesn't matter - I won't see him that night anyway. Plus any extra money would be great right now.

Monday down.....three more work days to go. I can make it. =)

September 29, 2008

Just a warning before you read this - I'm in a mood and this blog is going to be a rant of my feelings today, so if you're easily offended, don't read it.

Today I HAVE to get the music embedded into the slideshow....I wrote that down so I wouldn't forget. I can't do it until my brother calls me back.....who knows when that will be.

So it's my last Monday as a "single" person (are you still considered technically single when you're engaged?) Maybe I should say it's my last Monday as a non-married person. That's exciting. I'm actually a little glad to be at work today (yes, shocking, I know) b/c I need to be busy. Not that I'm ever busy here, really, but at least there are things I have to get done. Last week just made me lazy, and I liked it for a couple days but then I was ready to get out and do something.

Yesterday I was talking to a friend of mine who got married last year, and she was saying for the 75-80 guests they had at their wedding, they got over $3000 in wedding money...............I was FLOORED. We're trying not to bank on any set amount, but in all honest truth, we need it bad, lol. I hate it when ppl (my mom does this, too) get gifts that have nothing to do with the registry and then you have no idea where they came from and therefore, can't return them. I have two things still in the back of my car from a shower two months ago that I have NO idea where they came from. I've taken them into three different stores and they don't carry it. These are things we will either never use or already have and don't need the duplicate, but since they aren't from our registry, we don't know where they came from and are having a really hard time returning. I have a new understanding now of why ppl make registries and how annoying it is to try to return things you won't use or don't need. From now on, I'm just giving ppl money for their weddings. It's easiest and best and they can always use it. His brother got over $2000 for their wedding and they had the same amount of ppl there that we are, so I guess we'll see what happens.

I'm irritated this morning over a situation I can't change but it COULD have been changed. It's a long story and I won't post it, but I've been working on the details of making Friday/Saturday go well and when things keep changing and ppl cancel, I have to start over with most of it and I'm....well, tired. I'm physically tired and mentally exhausted. To you ppl who take a YEAR or more to plan your wedding - I don't know how you do it. We planned this whole thing in 4 months (technically, though we've been making plans for a year) and I'm so tired. The last couple weeks especially, as we're getting down to the wire.

I'm disappointed in some ppl today, as well. I realized yesterday who my true-blue friends are.....I love you guys - you know who you are. =) I was disappointed that out of that list of invitees, nobody bothered to show up, even when they said they would. I was really hurt. I know some ppl had legit plans, and that I understand, but to those of you who promised to come and just didn't bother to show up or even call to say you weren't coming....I dont understand why.

Alllllll that being said, I feel much better. =) I'm excited to be in the final week and I can't wait for vacation!

September 27, 2008

So I'm breaking the every-two-days ritual and writing something today. This time next week will (finally!) be married and all this hullabaloo (like that one?) will be DONE. I have enjoyed it for the most part, but after awhile, you just want to get to the finish line already.

Mom and I got our nails done today - it's the first time she's ever had hers done, I think. I requested NOT to have the little skinny woman do my pedicure, b/c last time she cut me three times and hurt me multiple other times. I watched her giving a pedicure this morning to a lady who kept wincing....so evidently she hurts other ppl as well. Interesting. It felt so good to be getting a pedicure though.....I could get used to the lifestyle if it weren't so danged expensive. I think it cost us about $75 to get two french manicures and a pedicure. Ridiculous, and the whole time they talk about you in their weird-o language that just sounds like a bunch of drawn out syllables to me. =)

After that, we went by the salon we're going to use (notice how I'm not giving out any business names here) and made "reservations" to my hair done next Saturday as well as my maid of honor's at the same time. I wanted to do it as late in the day as possible since I am such a klutz and will do something to ruin it before tee-time, but she said it would take at least an hour and then some to do it, so we have to be there at 10:30, since we HAVE HAVE HAVE to be out of there no later than 12:30. It's a ten minute drive to the church and we have to get dressed for pictures at 1:30. I just got the tingles thinking about it all. =)

Tomorrow is the girls' party....I think we might end up with five or six ppl, which is better than what we thought at the beginning of the week. We shall see. I'm kinda sad that we weren't able to have it here (at Jay's) but it just didn't work out that way since he has to sleep. But after tomorrow morning, if I dont come back here after the party (depends on how late it is) I wont see him until Thursday evening before the big dinner with his entirrrrrrrrrrrrre family. And I'm really sad about that. It sucks when I don't see him for a long time, especially this close to D-day.

His parents and brother are coming in around noon on Thursday, but I (like a dumbass) did not take Thursday off. I recently asked off early a couple hours, but we'll see if that works out or not. It would be nice to not be rushed before the dinner at 6:30, but I'm not going to hold my breath. I'm looking forward to meeting the rest of his family though - it should be a good time. We're expecting about 30 ppl there.

So the real countdown begins. We started at 140-something and now we're down to 6 days!!!

September 26, 2008

I seem to have a pattern of every two days here, lol. Not as much to say right now as time gets closer.

Tomorrow we are getting nails done and going to an unnamed hair salon to make appts for next Saturday morning. I guess now there really isn't that much to do until next Friday.....I feel like the days are just ticking away, and I'm really bored. I'm enjoying my week off and spending time with Jay, but I'm also glad I'm working most of next week to keep me busy, too. He has to work Mon-Wed nights so I really won't see him at ALL until Thursday night, and that's going to be weird, but something we're definitely going to have to get used to. Once we get back from our honeymoon, he has to work Mon and Tues nights and I won't see him until Wednesday night....weird again.

I've had to redo our rehearsal seating about ten times now and if I have to do it one more time, I'm just going to toss it all out and say "sit where you want." I did it for a reason and I was really happy with the way we had it a few days ago, but got thrown a monkeywrench and had to add some more seats......taking us from a perfect 4 tables of 8 ppl to 5 tables of mix-and-match ppl, and I'm not happy with it this way.

The "girls" party is Sunday....total of three, maybe four, of us. I kinda feel bad about that - nobody was able to come and I wont lie, it's a huge letdown for me. I almost wonder if we should even have it. We had to change location since Jay works overtime Saturday night and will want to go home to sleep after church Sunday.

Right now I'm watching "Bringing Home Baby" and waiting for Jay to wake up (worked last night) and I'm debating on breakfast/lunch options b/c I'm starving. Sometimes when I watch this show I wonder what kind of parent I'll be, b/c I think parents today are WAY too easy on their kids. Most kids today are AWFUL!! All b/c parents are so afraid to hurt his feelings or tell him no for fear he's going to be mad at them..............well, oh well if he does get mad --- he'll get over it!

Anyway, I dont want to get on that soapbox. Just 7 days away!!! A week from right now I'll be getting ready for the luncheon! Then it's off to set up for rehearsal and the dinner!

September 24, 2008

9 days to go!! We are SO ready to have it here.

Monday, September 22, 2008

September 22, 2008

I'm enjoying my week off already. The phone woke me up at 730 this morning, but other than that, my day has been so nice. My brother came over and we went up to the church so he could scope out the sanctuary for pictures. Then we grabbed some lunch and took it back to my parents' house to hang out for awhile. I headed home (Jay's) around 1:00 to wait until he got up; his first night at work went well! He and a friend were going hunting this evening so I took the opportunity to go to the gym while I had free time. Man, do I hate the gym.

Our girls' party is looking like it's going to be slim pickens. I'm kinda disappointed but oh well, nothing can be done about it. I kinda feel a little like all these ppl who say they're friends really don't make much effort to tie the ends together sometimes.

I finished the guest list today.....I just deleted out those who hadn't RSVP'd and if they call later, I'll type them back in, but for counting purposes it was distracting me trying to count around them.

Tomorrow I get to work at 1st Pres and I'm excited about it! I really miss it and even if the babies cry five straight hours.....I dont have to go back on Wednesday so who cares?!?

11 days to go

Saturday, September 20, 2008

September 20, 2008

The RSVP deadline is finally here! That has meant finality to me.....the day is finally almost here! We are now missing about 15 RSVPs, a total of about 44 ppl, which is MUCH more do-able for me than a week or so ago.

Right now I'm sitting on the couch at home (Jay's, what I feel is home now even though its not quite yet....) watching a show about sextuplets (wow). Jay went to bed to sleep about an hour ago; he has to be at work tonight at midnight. He'll work midnight-6am and tomorrow from 6p-6a -- his first night at work. I'm praying it goes well for him and will ease his apprehension about working nights at a job he still won't really enjoy. Baylee is sitting here with me, curled up half in/half out of my lap.....heaven forbid she doesn't get her fair share of attention from anyone in the room. =)

I'm SO excited to be off for a week! I only have to go by their house to pick up the mail a couple of times - no problem. It makes me realize just how truly trapped I feel in this job. When I first took this job I was excited about the money but now that I've been in it long enough for the "oh yay new job!" factor to wear off, I realize how underpaying it is when you're there nearly 11 hrs every day.....comes out to like $7 an hour. Mexicans make more than that. I am very grateful for the free time I get most days and the freedom to be able to go wherever I want most of the time, and that does make it almost even, but when you're struggling financially, nothing seems to make up for it.

Don't know why I got into all that. Bored, I guess. Just realized I've seen this show before and I remember how it ends, so I'm changing the channel. I love satellite tv -- beats Charter by a million. Hope I dont have sextuplets one day. ADD, sorry. We do want kids but not for at least a couple years. I most certainly do not want multiples.

Signing off for now. Dinner time!

September 18, 2008

I cant wait to get these next two weeks over with. Or at least just this week so I can SLEEP. I do get to work at 1st Pres on Tuesday and I'm really excited about that! I miss my friends there so much and, if we could afford it, I would go back in a second. I've thought about doing that and getting an afternoon job as well, but for right now, I've got enough on my plate. I am looking to pick up some babysitting hours though, so if you know of anyone looking for a sitter some evenings, PLEASE pass along my email/number!

I hate hunting season.....any other hunting widow can share my laments here. It's frustrating sometimes when you have limited time together. Don't read me wrong - I dont begrudge him his hobby at ALL; it just seems to fall on a really inconvenient time for us this year, lol. If we were getting married in the summer or the winter, it might not be so tough, but right now, we both have so much going on with our jobs that our time in the evenings and weekends is limited. His new job schedule is going to suck until we're married - I really wont see him much in the next week and a half. It will be nice to be able to stay there once and for all.

I'm looking forward to our girls' party next Sunday....though it may end up being just me and Jessica....nobody bothers to RSVP to anything. I've had to hunt down some ppl for wedding RSVPs, simply b/c we have to have an accurate number for food purchases. I've talked to a few ppl this week already who have said "oh we can't come"......then why didn't you RSVP that weeks ago? Why am I having to hunt you down for it? Sheesh! We're still missing about 45 ppl's replies and Saturday is the "deadline." Like I can actually tell ppl who call on Monday "Oh, I'm sorry, you missed the deadline and aren't allowed to come." Though I swear it - there is one person who is NOT allowed in those doors and certain ppl already know that. Long story but I will never understand why some ppl just assume they're invited to things when 1) they havent been given an invitation, 2) they havent been told (purposefully) about the date/time/place, and 3) they were specifically told MANY times they are not welcome to be there. We'll see if they heed it or not. I've already certain ppl not to give out any info if its asked for. THIS causes me stress...wondering if this person will show up unannounced and cause drama to members of the wedding party who specifically asked that this person not attend (and t'was more than one person.)

So.....
9 days til our girls party!
14 days til the biiiiiig Miller dinner!
15 days til our wedding!!!

September 15, 2008

It dawned on me today that all I really have to get through is the next five days at work and I'm practically free until mid-October. I'm off all next week and work three and a half days the week of my wedding, and then its VACATION!!!! I come back to work on Oct 13. That's a great feeling - freedom from daily life, though I'm eager to get normal life back again. I got a few minor things done today - got the reservation made for the dinner get-together when all his family comes into town Oct 2nd. I got the wedding day outline emailed and a few other things emailed that I've been putting off b/c they seemed so trivial.

I had to babysit last night (sigh) and Jay fell asleep on the couch, just long enough to keep him wide awake until 3:30......his alarm goes off at 4:30. So he's working a 12 hr day on just 1 hr of sleep, and for him, that spells misery. So we're going out to dinner tonight and he's going to bed to catch up.

Time is finally starting to feel like it's going by, not flying by yet, but going somewhere at least. Next week I'm going to catch up on some sleep and relax - something I need to do. I've cried more in the last week than I have in my entire life....I guess from the stress; I don't really know why. I'm just so tired and I'm tired when I get home from work and there's still things to do....and I need a vacation so badly. 18 more days..........

September 12, 2008

Boy, after reading my brother's blog yesterday (or starting to, anyway) - I feel so illiterate. He writes such eloquent, long posts and mine are so trivial. But it's really a way for me to unwind, no matter what time of day. This job has a LOT of downtime and I do a lot of things around the house for them, too, but still after that is all done, I'm.....well, bored. It helps me to write things down that I'm feeling, or things that I need to do - I'm very visual and writing helps me to remember things. It also relieves a little stress, which I'm starting to get more of. Everyone asks "how are you dealing with the stress of planning a wedding?" but to be honest - I really have not felt stressed. We got SO much done right off the bat that, as time is drawing near, there really isn't much left to do. We have everything we need for the reception, minus the food, all that's left is to get it all set up Friday morning except balloons. We have three people designated to come in Saturday afternoon to blow up the 60+ balloons and put them on all the tables. The rest of the setting up we will be doing on Friday afternoon after the luncheon and before the rehearsal. We aren't using any ceremony decoration other than pew bows and those will be set up on Friday as well. Tomorrow I can burn the dvd and mail it to the guy doing the video slideshow for us and that will be a big relief to have finished.

I got a couple more RSVPs this morning and I re-wrote my invitation list in Excel to figure out how many ppl have actually RSVPed and how many have not. I had it all colored out in "these are coming for sure," "these i THINK will come," "these cannot come" and so on, so forth and it was getting way too confusing. So now it's a little more clear - these ppl have RSVPed one way or another and these have not. To be honest, that's been the most frustrating and stressful part for me - not knowing what to expect when the day comes. Will we have enough food if 50 more ppl show up that didn't RSVP? I know more than likely we'll have more than enough, but still - these are my worries.

5 work days til my week off (woot!!!)
15 days til girls' party!
19 days til Miller dinner (fun!!)
21 days til the wedding

September 11, 2008

Lately I am tired.....SO tired. This job is catching up with me - the early mornings and not getting off until evening hours. I feel like I never see Jay anymore between my job and his - neither of us gets home until 6:30-7:00 and I have to drive back to my parents house around 9-10....he has to go to bed early since he gets up at 4:30 now.....it sucks. It will be so nice to not have to make that drive anymore. I can get home and STAY there.....relax completely; it's hard for me to totally relax in the evenings now b/c I know I still have to drive back to Piedmont. I feel like we hardly ever see each other and that's such a change for us. I guess it's just the beginning of that though - once he starts his night shift, there will be times I don't see him for two days. Every other week will be that way - he'll work 6p-6a on Mon/Tues/Fri/Sat/Sun and be off on Wed/Thurs, and the next week is the opposite - working only on Wed/Thur. I can't remember if I already blogged that or not and I'm too lazy to look it all up again, so there it is again. =)

This afternoon it hit me -- what I call a "God-pick-me-up." I get so blah about things and, while I'm so excited to get married, I feel like it's never going to get here. So once in awhile, I get a rush of excitement and I can feed off that for awhile - always makes me feel better. God always picks me up. =) Just 22 days to go, and I'm trying to keep a running to-do list, but it seems like the things I have to do cant be done until someone else does something.... I still need to get our slideshow burned to dvd, but I cant do that until the Geek Squad comes out Saturday to set up our new laptop (thanks Mom & Dad!!) I have to print a few things out, but I can only do that at my parents (no printer here) and I am only there from 11p-7a (lol) so it has to wait until a Saturday. I am STILL waiting on about 100 RSVPs and am getting more frustrated that ppl don't have the common courtesy to respond. I am still curious to know if one bridesmaid has gotten her dress altered or not.....last I talked to her about it, she had not. But I'm not going to ask b/c I dont want to be that way about it - if she does it, great. If not, great. The longer you wait, the more expensive it is to do b/c it has to be done quicker. But there's enough on my plate to worry about it. I started the packing process last night....Jay laughed at me, but he knows better than anyone my OCD pattern and I have to make lists and start packing early so I dont forget anything. He, on the other hand, would be content to pack the morning of the wedding, lol. I have the majority of his stuff packed in one bag and about half of my stuff packed in another bag, and it's going to take another for our shoes and toiletry stuff. Hopefully we can get it all without having to pay the baggage fee. We get one free checked bag each and two small/medium size carry-ons. So if we check our clothes bags and carry on the laptop and other bag, we should be fine. I like to talk things out in my writing, in case you hadn't noticed.

It will be SO nice to get back to normal....or at least, what our new normal will be with his new schedule and the freedom of not having to drive at night anymore. I cant wait!

September 8, 2008

Been a few days.....

I've been busy. The last two days of work last week were tough, for many reasons, and I was grateful for the weekend. Saturday we did NOTHING and it felt great. Just laid around and watched tv, did a few loads of laundry (to which the washing machine did NOT leak....YAY!!!) and that was about it. Sunday we went to church, Jay got baptized and was so glad to have it over with (in a good way). I had my bridal portraits done Sunday afternoon and was equally glad to have that over with. It turned out better than I thought it would, since I didn't have anything ready like it will be on wedding day (nails, hair, tan, etc). But the pictures turned out pretty nice....too bad I couldn't show them to Jay yet!!

Some of you know our computer situation has sucked in the last few months. The laptop I had been using crashed - the mouse driver was ruined and my brother couldn't fix it. So I was using Dad's old (ancient) laptop for a few months.....and in the last few weeks its decided to stop turning on for no reason. IF it even turns on, it takes at least 20 tries and about an hour's time and a whole lot more patience than I was ever blessed with. On top of all this, our desktop at home has had virus upon virus....despite the antivirus software installed on it - twice. My other brother fixed it for us once and it immediately got another virus and we haven't touched it since. That was about 5 months ago and we are FED UP with computers. However, I pretty much cannot get by without one these next 4 weeks because all of my files are online and our invitation list is something I have to update daily......therefore, I need a working computer.

Sidenote to say, my parents are awesome. They have done way more than they ever should have for us for this wedding and beyond. They are trying to help us get a head start and know all of the things that have been going on since Jay got laid off last April.

They showed up at our house last night with a brand new laptop, complete with all the software, antivirus, and GeekSquad purchases we would ever need. It was beyond unbelievable. Something they didn't have to do and we would NEVER have expected them to do, they did. And it was soooooooo appreciated.

So I have spent the majority of today learning how to work Vista and it's really confusing for me. I suppose I'll get it eventually, but for now, I'm sticking to the basics. I am so grateful to have a working computer - you have no idea.

Anyway, beyond that --- we have 25 days to go. I dont count the actual wedding day, in case you're wondering. Makes it a teensy bit quicker that way, lol. I am trying my darndest to get off a couple hours early on Thursday the 2nd, but I don't know if it will work out. All (and when I say all, I mean ALLLLLLLLL) of Jay's family is coming into town on Thursday so we can ALL go to dinner that night and I can meet them all and they can meet me. And since I dont usually get off work until 5:30-6:00, it's at least 7:30 before I can meet anyone anywhere in the evenings, so I'm trying to be off around 3:30-4:00 so we can schedule dinner at 6:30. I hate to hold everyone up just for me, when they'll all be ready earlier. I'm wishing I had asked for the entire day off but I'll make do getting everything finished on Friday morning/afternoon after the bridemaids luncheon (cant wait girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

So just 9 days of work left before my week off!!!!!! Much needed also - for my sanity's sake right now.

September 4, 2008

ONE MONTH FROM TODAY!!! I hope it flies by.

I really enjoyed the RNC speeches last night, minus ol' Rudy. I love to hear Huckabee speak and Palin did a fantastic job. The sarcasm (a fave of mine, big surprise) was hilarious and she was to the point w/o being rude. I would have told Obama he could...well, I wont finish that b/c I dont know who reads this, but anyway. Rudy Giuliani's speech was good at first but quickly became annoying. I like what he stands for (for the most part) but when he starts getting huge applause and whatnot, it goes to his head and he gets super irritating. But Palin was awesome and I think she would be a great dedication to our country. I do support Bush b/c I will never vote Democratic and I think he's done a pretty good job with all the issues he's been thrown into. There are a few things I disagree about but for the most part he's done a fantastic job and we couldn't ask more of a President. It will be interesting to see how this election pans out.

For the first three hours after I got up this morning, I thought it was Friday and then it dawned on me that it wasn't. Grrr. I'm glad for the 4 day work week though. Jay started his job training this week and likes it so far - it's a really simple job and he gets tons of breaks/times off - like every two hours or so they take a half hour break, so we'll still get to text a good bit until he goes on the 6p-6a. No texting then - I'll be asleep lol. I'm glad he likes it though - it's a weight off both our shoulders that he's finally settled somewhere and we don't have to worry about what to do when the unemployment is gone. Praise the Lord for that.

My to-do list today includes going to Publix to order the cake for the rehearsal dinner, so I'm off to do that.

September 3, 2008

Okay, so......scrap the 7 day diet. I did it for two days and it made my bloodsugar plummet to 49 and I felt the effects of it for hours. It isn't going to work for me. So now, I have a boatload of vegetable soup and nobody to eat it, lol. So I guess I'll just stick to the gym. Joy.

Just 30 days to go!!! I can't believe it. Some days it feels like it's all just flown by and some days it feels like it will never get here. I know I write that often but it's how I feel and that's what this blog is - my feelings and thoughts.

I have already started to pack a few things....now, before you start laughing at me for packing 4 weeks early, that's how I roll. If I dont make lists and start early, I will inevitable forget something important. I always do. Jay, on the other hand, never packs until ten minutes before he leaves. We are so different in so many ways; we were talking about that last night - we balance each other well. I am "tidy" (couldn't think of another word) where he is very cluttered. I like to get things done now so I can rest later, where he waits until the very last minute to do it (why we are late to friends' houses....sorry guys!) He is an outdoor person; I'm not. And so many others. But for as many differences as we have, we have just as many similarities and things in common.

Jay gets baptised this Sunday.....since he hadnt even been before, that was the only way he could join Calvary, while I joined by letter. Wonder if SF got that letter yet.......they dont even notice that we're gone, and that makes me realize our decision was definitely for the best.

Anyway, got some errands to run before picking up the kiddo today.

30 days til the wedding
11 work days til my week off
24 days til our "girls" party!!
